It's my goal to create a vast resource of information which will be
of use to to you. Everything I recommend and post on this page are
things I have read, listened to, used or checked out myself and found
invaluable.
Book, CD and DVD suggestions:
But You Knew That Already : What a Psychic Can Teach You About Life
I had never heard of Dougall Fraser befor
e I found an excerpt of
his book online. I still haven't ever seen, or heard, him do a
reading. But this book touched my heart. It was a personable and,
more importantly, realistic memoir about how Dougall embraced, and
honed, his psychic abilities. I learned so much from this book. You
will enjoy it.
Finding Your Own North Star: Claiming the Life You Were Meant to Live
For years, one of the things I was most concerned about was trying
to define what my life purpose is. While I wasn't able to define it
in a sentence or two after reading
this book, I found myself having
a greater acceptance of my own uniqueness and knowing, even though
my journey wasn't going to play itself out in the same way it does
for other people, it was important for me to honor my talents and
passions.
Start Where You Are : A Guide to Compassionate Living
While I'm not a practicing Buddhist, there are many aspects of
Buddhism I feel drawn to. From my experience, there are no better
teachings on how to be more compassionate, kind and loving. About
ten years ago, I
checked out Pema Chodron's audio program called
"Awakening Compassion" from the library. This introduction to her
changed my life. Since then, I have read nearly everything this
Buddhist nun has written. I recommend "Start Where You Are..." as
being one of her very best books.
The Circle
I love Laura Day's book "Practical Intuition". I was excited to
read this one when it was first published. I bought a copy, looked
through it and realized
it didn't feel quite right. For years it
sat on the shelf. Then one day, I took it down and gave it another
chance. I've been using the manifesting technique Day offers ever
since. It's simple. It's beautiful and it works.
Visioning: 10 Steps to Designing the Life of Your Dreams
Sometimes I find I just don't have the patience to go through
manifesting rituals such as affirmations, visualizations, etc. I
have to admit, I bought this book reluctantly. However, I gave it a
chance and did several
of the exercises. I found the act of doing
things like making collages was very therapeutic. The other day, I
found the first collage I made. I was surprised to see how many of
the things I had desired back then did come into fruition. I think
there's at least a couple of exercises in this book that would
appeal to you.
Meditation Week by Week: 52 Meditations to Help You Grow in Peace and Awareness
Meditation has become a vital part of my life. At times, doing
meditations which involve only focusing on the breath can feel
somewhat
boring. The weekly meditations I found in this book were
really quite inspiring. Many of them helped me to look at the world
around me more closely and examine things in a much more gentle and
thoughtful way. They allowed me to get creative with my
meditations. I loved that. This book is a great resource.
The Power of Now
I have to be honest, even though I found this book invaluable, I
found the writing style to
be a bit dry. I recommend listening to
the audio version of this remarkable book which explains the
importance of living in the moment and how begin doing so.
Eating Mindfully: How to End Mindless Eating and Enjoy a Balanced Relationship with Food
One of the things that has made a huge impact in my life (and
something I have to work hard at doing each day) is to eat
mindfully. It is truly amazing how simply sitting and doing nothing
else but focusing on the process of eating can be such a satisfying
experience. This book helped me learning to ease into the practice
and reaffirmed its important.
Living With Joy
This book is incredible. Actually, all the books by this author
have been outstanding. I kn
ow many spiritual/self-help books,
pretty much, offer the same message: love yourself. The trick is to
find a book written in a way that really speaks to you. This book
and this author did it for me. Check it out.
Personal Power Through Awareness
Written by the same author of "Living With Joy", this book blew my
mind. Not only that, it changed the
way I look at everything in
life and how I conduct my readings. The constant in this book is
the idea that everything is energy. Once you begin to embrace that
idea, it makes you think differently about how you conduct your
life. If you get only one book from those I have recommended, get
this one.
Change Your Life in 30 Days
During the month of August,
2006, I spent each
day working with the Rhonda Britten
book. It was hard work, but worth the time spent
doing each chapter's exercises. It's one thing to analyze oneself, but it's
another to get brutally honest. This book, in a very straightforward manner,
helps you to focus in on what really motivates you to make the choices
you do.

I've begun to become more conscious of the Law of Attraction
and apply it more to my life. One of the things that really helped me to better
understand attraction was a
documentary a friend told me about called .

Experience The Power of Grace
In April, 2006, I got the chance to attend Cheryl Richardson's
Experience The Power of Grace workshop. It was incredible.
Cheryl is selling
a 6-CD audio recording of her workshop. I highly recommend purchasing them. From
the Web site:

Big Mind/Big Heart
Revealed
While I'm not a Buddhist, I often seem to find myself drawn to Buddhist
teachings to help define my own spirituality. Recently, I came across a two DVD
set called Big Mind/Big Heart
Revealed. The DVDs are powerful. Simply put, Zen Master Genpo
Roshi calls upon various parts of our being (The Controller, The Fixer, The
Damaged Self, Big Heart, etc) and allows that part of us to speak. This helps
make one much more aware of where the feelings and thoughts we have originate.
After watching these DVDs, I found myself more understanding and compassionate
of why I react to things as I do.
From the Web site:
Dennis Genpo Merzel Roshi, one of the preeminent Zen Masters
in the Western world, has developed a unique and revolutionary approach for
transmitting the authentic teachings that emerged from Buddha's enlightenment
experience. With a mastery born of more than thirty years of teaching, Genpo
Roshi has enabled thousands of participants in Big Mind workshops to gain
profound insights and taste for themselves the illuminating experience from
which Buddhism and all the world's great religions originate.
In The Big Mind DVD Roshi leads us on a voyage of self-discovery through the
basic aspects of mind that he often explores in his workshops. The first disc
takes participants through the personal, dualistic, aspects of mind; the second
through the transpersonal, transcendent.
The Secret of Deliberate Creation
In late December, I
began planning and visualizing all that I wanted to create in 2007. I went out
searching for anything that would give me a new, fresh perspective on how to
manifest things. I came across a man and an audio
program I hadn't heard of
before. The man is Dr. Robert Anthony and the program is called
The Secret of Deliberate Creation. Often times, books and audio about the
law of attraction contain a great deal of new age language which distracts from
the simplicity and practicality of manifesting. The thing I appreciated about
Dr. Anthony's program was that the process is described in a very
straightforward manner which made comprehending it all that much easier.
For me, the best part of the program was when he likened
abundance to downloading something from the Internet--there is always enough
downloads for everyone because there is an unlimited supply.
From the Web site:
...The Secret of Deliberate Creation home study
program will change your life. There is nothing else like it!
The Secret of Deliberate Creation is designed to give you a complete
manifestation program that explains a much deeper connection between success and
the immutable laws of the universe. It delves into the one-on-one connection
between thought, feeling, action, and results.
...If you are SERIOUS about changing your life and moving up to the next level
of success - this is the program for you!
