Short psychic at large
Technorani tag:

Note: I subscribe to Google Alerts and use the word "psychic" to find news stories that have to do with the kind of work that I do. I have to admit, it continues to shock me when I read new articles like the following one and read about how psychics are still scamming, and are able to scam, vulnerable people. It makes me so angry. Taking advantage of people at a time when they are needing guidance and support is NOT what this work is about.

The article:

Short psychic at large

NSW police are searching for an Australian psychic and her Canadian "followers", whom they say conned hundreds of thousands of dollars from vulnerable people.

Detective Inspector Jim Stewart said today the psychic, called Nina, and her husband and another couple may have crossed into another state to set up their scam.

The 60-year-old psychic and her followers, who have what police say are strong Canadian accents, packed up their crystal ball and tarot cards before leaving a unit in Merrylands, in Sydney's west, he said.

Police believe they have fled with more than $500,000 cash and jewellery after gaining the confidence of a number of victims.

"People have been duped into believing that if they bring their property to this particular psychic that all their problems will be solved," Insp Stewart said.

People have been asked to bring large amounts of money to the psychic who promises to return it after five to six days of cleansing it of evil.

Insp Stewart says the psychic has failed to return the money.

A 60-year-old woman has told police she answered an advertisement in the local newspaper for psychic readings.

Over a period of two months, the Bexley woman provided and was defrauded of $308,000 by the psychic and her husband.

Nina is described as being about 140cm tall with a thin build, long dark hair and an olive complexion.

The 60-year-old victim, who only wants to be known as Giuseppa, told reporters she was yet to tell her husband that she had lost their life savings.

She is one of four victims, all women, who have been caught out by the scam which had been operating since July.

Police said two amounts of $300,000 and $200,000 left with the psychic by two victims had been stolen.

Giuseppa said the psychic "looked at a crystal ball and touched me with her hands".

"She said I was aggravated and cursed," Giuseppa said.

The psychic promised, during five or six 10-minute sessions, to rid the cash of a family curse.

Giuseppa said she went to the psychic seeking help for her depression.

Manifestation Meditation: Seven Steps To Manifestation
Technorani tag:

By Kelly Howell

Here's the open secret to manifestation: your success depends on where you place your attention. In everyday life, our attention is scattered. It's on our bills, on whether we can get the kids to school on time, on whether we're going to get a promotion, and dozens of other things, all at the same time. This is the Beta mind state: the everyday mind state, perfect for multi-tasking.

But - Beta is lousy for manifestation, because your attention is too scattered. If you've been trying to use a technique like affirmations to manifest, it's hard to get your affirmations to create your dreams in a Beta mind state. Your affirmations have zero power.

You can create whatever you decide to manifest. In effect, you can create something out of nothing. You're already manifesting the life and circumstances which currently surround you. You can change these circumstances and manifest something different. All it takes is a secret ingredient.

The secret ingredient to manifestation is meditation. When you meditate, you will find that it's easy to manifest exactly what you want, because your attention is single-pointed: it's focused like a laser beam. When your attention is focused, what your attention is focused on manifests, and often more quickly than you think possible.

In just ten minutes a day, or twice a day if you're keen, you can change your life. You can manifest anything that you truly desire. This sounds like an outrageous claim, but it's quite easy to test it for yourself. After all, everyone can spare ten minutes a day.

Manifest what you truly desire

Perhaps you've already tried affirmations to manifest a new car, or a job, or a better relationship. Then, when nothing changed, you stopped, convinced that affirmations were pointless. Affirmations do work. However they work when you're in an accepting, meditative state when you repeat your affirmations, because in this state you're much more powerful - your attention is focused.

When you start the manifestation process with meditation, you're working with yourself, rather than against yourself. Experienced meditators say that they know when what they desire is on its way to them: there's a "click", a feeling of connection. When this connection happens they know that nothing can prevent their desire from manifesting. This connection always happens in a meditative state.

Ten minutes a day for seven days

This Manifestation Meditation takes just ten minutes a day for seven days.

To enhance the process, you can make meditation easy, by using a Brain Sync program to help. Just listen to your chosen program, and you will naturally access a meditative state. You'll find some recommendations at the end of this article.

In just ten minutes a day, not only will you discover what you truly what, but also make the connection that lets you know that what you want is on its way to you.

Here we go: seven days to manifesting your dreams.

Step One: Emptiness and compassionate silence

In this manifestation process, you start with relaxation, silence, and with complete acceptance. In this silence over the next days, you will find that your true desires will come to you. So for today's meditation, just relax, focus on your breathing, and let go.

Optimally, you'll be listening to a Brain Sync program as you meditate, because you can achieve Alpha and Theta mind states more easily. Put on your headphones, and sit or lie down in a comfortable position with your spine straight, and relax.

Once you've completely relaxed, and your mind is calm, bring to mind a being, or a force, that you associate with compassion. This may be a spiritual figure, or a place in nature, or the earth, or the stars. Bring this being, or this place to mind, and allow yourself to feel the compassion, and the kindness, that's extended to you.

Enjoy the compassionate presence for a few minutes.

Step Two: Intuition and ideas

Today, relax and become completely comfortable again, and let your mind clear. If you're using a Brain Sync program, put your headphones on, and allow the program to carry you into Alpha and Theta.

Gradually, silence will enfold you. Then, ask for your compassionate being to extend kindness to you again - or allow yourself to feel this kindness from nature.

Now bring to mind what you want to manifest. You may know what this is, but don't be surprised if you envision something completely different that you wish to manifest.

Breathe deeply. Relax. If you feel that you're becoming uncomfortable, just focus on your breathing or a time, and listen to the music in your program. Sometimes you've got so much attachment to your desires that it feels uncomfortable.

Watch for synchronicity in your daily life

We're all intuitive, but sometimes w suppress our intuition. Your daily meditations will lead to you encountering synchronicities in your daily life. Just take note of these events when they occur. They're a sign that you've made a connection, that your meditation is working.

Step Three: Expression

In today's meditation, access the silence, and the compassionate state again. Allow yourself to completely relax, and feel happy and serene. You may find yourself smiling during your meditation.

If you've decided on what you want to manifest, state it aloud, if you're alone, or silently if you're not: "I want to manifest a new car"; "I want to manifest a new job, with a salary 25 per cent more than I'm earning"; or "I want a new relationship - I want to find my soul mate."

Step Four: Emotion

In today's meditation, access the silence and the compassionate states again. State your manifestation-desire as though you already have what you want. Yesterday, you made the connection, and what you desire is already yours - it's completely yours, so state it that way: "I now have my wonderful new car"; "I love my new job, with my enhanced salary"; "I and my soul mate have found each other, and life is wonderful."

Allow yourself to feel happy and grateful that you have what you want. Give thanks that what you've asked for has already been given to you.

When your meditation is over, you may feel an impulse to do something - make a phone call, or speak to someone. This impulse arrives without emotion. This is your intuition at work. It has been triggered by your meditations, and will help you to manifest.

Step Five: Will

Today, you're going to activate your will in your meditation. Your will isn't what's commonly thought of as will-power, that white-knuckle do-or-die feeling. Your will is decision and acceptance. It's not as much an emotion as a feeling - a sense - of inevitability.

Access the silence and the compassionate states again as you've done before. And again, state your manifestation-desire as though you already have it. Say: "I now have my wonderful new car"; "I love my new job, with my enhanced salary"; "I and my soul mate have found each other, and life is wonderful."

Now access your will, which is centered in your hara.

In martial arts the source of your will and power is your hara, a point inside your body, about two inches below your navel. It's also known as the dan tien. It's a major focus of chi, of life force energy in your body. Imagine this point in your body as a small area of red glowing light, like a candle flame, or a glowing golden ball.

Notice the bodily sensations that you have in your hara. Don't try to change them in any way, just notice any tightness, or other sensation. Then allow the restrictions you have there to release, and allow the energy of your hara center to flow up your spine and out of the top of your head.

Step Six: Imagination

Begin today's meditation, as you usually do. Access the silence and the compassionate states again. Then, state your manifestation-desire as though you already have what you want. Feel hapy and grateful for your new life - for the manifestation which is already yours.

Let your attention move to your hara. Imagine the light in your hara, and feel the sensations. Let the energy of your hara flow up your spine, and out the top of your head.

As you release this energy, imagine your manifestation - picture it in any way you can, whether it's by visual images, by sounds, by feelings. Imagine your new life, with your manifestation as part of it. Imagine events, complete with sight and sound. What does your family think about your manifestation?

Step Seven: Manifestation

Today, your manifestation process is complete. Whether you realize it consciously or not, your manifestation is on its way.

In today's meditation, follow the same process you've followed over the past days. Here it is in brief, so that you can memorize it:

1. Silence and compassionate acceptance;

2. Express: speak your manifestation aloud, or silently, and feel the emotion of its fulfillment;

3. Sense the energy of your will in your hara, and allow it to move up and out of your body;

4. Imagine your life with the manifestation complete.

Using your Manifestation Meditation

You can continue to use this process. Your life has already begun to change. Keep growing, and manifesting, by using this simple meditation. Over time, you can access this "manifestation mind state" within 60 seconds or less in your daily life. For example, if you're about to give a presentation, use the meditation to both relax yourself, and manifest a wonderful outcome.

Workers: The Psychic - Visionary art form : Local : Albuquerque Tribune
By Sue Vorenberg (Contact)
Monday, November 6, 2006

Ana Anaya, longtime psychic and second-grade teacher, hopes to devote herself to becoming a full-time fortune teller, an experience she calls spiritual.

There's no crystal ball in the quiet, wood-floored adobe home of Psychic Ana.

As you walk up the weedy path to her front door, she doesn't already know you're there or what questions you're going to ask.

She's not that kind of psychic.

You will be invited in with a friendly smile as she ushers you to a dimly-lit room with a plain wooden table, a few candles and a picture of the Virgin Mary hanging in the background.

Once there, she'll read your tarot cards, maybe your palm, or create an astrology chart.

Just don't visit before 3:30 p.m. - before then she'll be in the classroom using her real name, Ana Anaya, as a second grade teacher at Lavaland Elementary School on the West Side.

Though she has more than 30 years experience as a psychic reader, Anaya, 56, hasn't yet been able to quit her day job. And even though she says she loves teaching, she'd love even more to one day become a full-time fortune teller.

Being a psychic is an odd career by most standards. You have to be good at using the tools of the trade - whether it be tarot, numerology, astrology or straight-up clairvoyant readings, Anaya said.

You also have to understand that people are coming to you for advice, looking for someone to help them feel better, she said.

"It's almost like counseling, except that a psychic gives you answers where a counselor asks you questions," Anaya said.

It also involves a lot of self promotion, whether that be ads in the newspaper, readings on the radio or a giant billboard on I-25, all of which Anaya has done, she said.

"It's really all marketing because all you need to do it is a deck of cards," Anaya said, pointing to her favorite tool, a deck of Egyptian tarot cards.

It's hard to gauge how many psychics are in Albuquerque or the size of the industry nationwide. There is no central organization that registers psychics, said Dale Boyce, another psychic and owner of Noble Path Metaphysical Books at 120 Amherst Drive N.E.

Besides that, there are a lot of amateurs out there. And if you want to work your way up to the pros, you must first pay your dues, both Boyce and Anaya said.

"I studied the tarot for about 10 years, and I did three years where I didn't take any money for readings," Boyce said. "After that I started charging a little. You have to do a lot of it in a pro-bono way and then, when you get to proficiency, you can charge money."

Psychics who read out of Boyce's bookstore charge $1.25 a minute with a 10-minute minimum, he said.

Anaya charges $190 an hour, although sessions usually last about 15 minutes, she said. In a good month she can make somewhere between $3,000 to $5,000 before taxes.

Even though she works as a teacher by day, business is picking up. Maybe in another year she'll be a full-time professional, she said.

"It's going so well I'm sure I'll be quitting my teaching job," Anaya said.

Anaya's salary is about the average for many professional psychics, although "scam artists" can make a lot more, said Diane Miles, a metaphysical minister and director of the Association of Certified Psychics in New York.

"Real psychics are never going to get rich," Miles said. "We tend to accept what people can afford. The scam artists make the big bucks."

Scammers - people with no abilities who don't care about their clients and are just trying to make money - can net $100,000 a year or more, Miles said.

To find them, just pick up the phone and dial one of those 800 numbers, Miles said. If you want a real psychic, go to a psychic fair, she said.

Boyce holds one every Sunday at his store from 1-6 p.m.

"Also look to the spiritualist and metaphysical churches. They have psychic festivals from time to time," Miles said. "Those are people who are generally just looking to help others."

Anaya said she thinks everybody is a little bit psychic. But the skills are sort of like natural athletic abilities - some people have enough talent to go pro and are willing to work at it every day, while others seek out different careers.

Ever since she was a little kid in Albuquerque, Anaya has felt that she had a natural talent. She was more intuitive than those around her: she sensed feelings, got images and impressions from her friends and family, she said.

She used to talk about it back then with her grandmother, who was also psychic, Anaya said.

But there's an odd twist to those conversations, she said.

"She died in the 1920s, and I was born in 1949," Anaya said.

Her mother was a psychic, too, but wasn't really into it because of the bad image associated with psychics, Anaya said.

"Mom would have nothing to do with that," she said. "She was a modern 1920s woman, but she never discouraged us in what we wanted to do."

Still, even Anaya wasn't initially sure this was what she wanted to do. In the 1970s, she went to school at the now-defunct University of Albuquerque to pursue a philosophy degree, but that didn't really pan out, she said.

"I said, `What is my philosophy?' Well, I love the occult, I love tarot," Anaya said. "So I dropped out after three years and moved to Los Angeles to become a professional astrologer."

She studied astrology in Los Angeles, but her Catholic roots made her concerned about the ethics of fortune telling. She found an answer to her dilemma, however, in the Bible, she said.

"I came back to New Mexico after being in California for about 10 years and decided I'd get into canon law and study the Catholic religion," Anaya said. "I was surprised. I found no conflicts at all."

She originally moved back to Santa Fe in 1991, then went to Las Cruces and finally back to Albuquerque in 1998. Over that time, she finished her degree - switching her focus to elementary education with a bachelor's degree from the College of Santa Fe.

And despite the occasional little kid or drunk who crank calls her to ask if she knows what they're calling about, she says she's come to terms with her qualms about the reputation of her profession.

"To me, this is like an art form - it's a belief, it's religious, it's spiritual," Anaya said. "It's also important to remember that psychic readings, astrology - it's a small part of life. The rest is all around you. What I do is just a little piece of the puzzle. It's not the whole."

What Have You Been Feeding your Mind?
Technorani tag:

By Penny Phang

Did you know that ninety percent of what we are can’t be seen with the physical eye? Why is this? Think about it for a moment; the way we present ourselves—the way we dress, act, walk and talk—can easily distract from the reality of who we truly are. Who we truly are manifests itself most deeply in one of the greatest, most powerful intangible forces within us: our thoughts.

You see…everything we do begins with a thought. A thought can lead to victory or defeat. A single thought can result in good or evil. Or can lead or mislead.

As our "mission controls," our brains are both broadcasting and receiving stations for the vibrations of thoughts. Our brains possess innate ability to send the messages of our thoughts to our physical selves. Then our physical selves manifest our intangible thoughts into the material world, so we can physically see, touch, weigh and measure them. This is why most of us find it so easy to depend a great deal on what our physical senses tell us, and limit our knowledge to physical things. We tend to forget or not even realize that the driving forces behind everything we materialize are our thoughts.

Sadly, some people become creators of their own "misfortune" because they believe themselves "doomed" to negative outcomes—such as failure and poverty. They feel they’re unable to better their own lives due to some strange force over which they believe they have no control. They may not even realize, as they’re feeding their minds with these negative beliefs, their subconscious minds are also picking up these same beliefs, and are translating them into their physical equivalent.

Your subconscious mind is very powerful, however it makes no distinction between constructive and destructive thought impulses. It works with the material you feed it, through your thought impulses. Your subconscious mind will translate into reality a thought driven by fear just as readily as it will translate into reality a thought driven by courage, or faith. It is vital for you to encourage your positive emotions as dominating forces of your mind, and discourage—and eliminate negative emotions. A mind dominated by positive emotions will surely become a favorable adobe for the state of mind known as faith.

All thoughts that have been emotionalized (given feelings) and mixed with faith, will immediately begin to translate themselves into their physical equivalent or counterpart. The emotion, or "feeling" portion of thoughts, are the factors that give thoughts vitality, life, and action. Not only thought impulses which have been mixed with faith, but those which have been mixed with any of the positive emotions, or any of the negative emotions, may reach, and influence the subconscious mind. And the subconscious mind will translate into its physical equivalent a thought impulse of a negative or destructive nature, just as readily as it will act upon thought impulses of a positive or constructive nature.

The human mind is constantly attracting vibrations that harmonize with that which dominates the mind. Any thought, idea, plan, or purpose which you hold in your mind through repetition of thought attracts a host of its relatives, and grows until it becomes the dominating, motivating master of your mind. It will benefit you greatly to write out a clear statement of your major purpose, or definite chief aim, commit it to memory, and repeat it, in audible words, day after day, until these vibrations of sound have reached your subconscious mind.

Resolve to throw off the influences of many unfortunate environments, and build your own life to order. Pass on to your subconscious mind, any desire that you wish translated into its physical equivalent, in a state of expectancy or belief that the transmutation will actually take place. It is your belief, or faith, that is the element that determines the action of your subconscious mind. So conduct yourself just as you would if you were already in possession of that which you desire. When you truly come to recognize the power of your thoughts, you won’t want to make room in them for negative ideas, trivial concerns, mundane needs or quiet desperation. Instead, you’ll find yourself wanting to focus only on positive ideas, emotions, habits and attitudes that will place you on the treadmill of a fulfilling life. You would then have truly come to understand the concept: As you think, you shall become.
